Septic Tip!
Septic Tip:
Use liquid laundry detergent if you have a septic tank. Powdered laundry detergents use clay as a ‘carrier’. This clay can hasten the buildup of solids in the septic tank and potentially plug the disposal area.

Septic Tip:
Do you have a restroom that is no longer in use? But the one time a year that you do use it, it has a sewer smell? In most cases, this is due to water not being introduced into the lines for a long period of time. Before paying someone to check it out, try flushing your toilet or run water several times a week in that restroom for a couple of months and the smell should go away eventually. This has also been known to happen during weather changes. If your problem persists after trying this we recommend calling a plumber!

Septic Tip:
Garbage disposals fill up a septic tank with solids much quicker than a home without one. Keep that in mind when considering the last time you had your tank serviced. Solids are what you need pumped and cleaned out of your tank. Your field lines take care of the liquid.

Septic Tip:
Do you have serious calcium build up in your water? Is it causing calcium build up in your lines? Dump a small glass of cubed ice down your toilet and flush every couple of months. It will help break up calcium deposits.

The Great Debate!
Out of sight/out of mind!?
Out of sight/Out of mind? NO!! This is not how it should be for your septic system and field lines. Do not allow heavy machinery or vehicles to drive over your septic tank and field lines. This can cause major damage to your system costing you thousands of $$$$!

Septic Tip!!
Some septic systems require a physical pump inside their septic tanks. If you have one and your septic tank pump alarm goes off, check your breaker box before calling and paying for service! The breaker may have tripped and it may just need a flip of a switch!
